            Hydrocarbons are made from CO and H2 in the presence of solid catalysts and working under ordinary pressure in the gaseous phase.  The catalyst is passed continuously through the reaction chamber and recycled, if necessary, after a complementary regeneration.  Excess heat is dissipated by the use of cooled surfaces, such as by using plate furnaces or rotary tubular furnaces.  Describes apparatus.
