Process as described consists in intimately mixing the primary synthesis product from the hydrogenation of CO at temperatures of 100° or < with a hydroscopic metal salt such as Zn, Ca, or Mg Chloride and then separating the addition compound from the supernatant mixture of hydrocarbons ( by distillation ordecantation).
